Design Tips | To Save or to Splurge

To save or to splurge, that is the question. Designing a beautiful home can come at a cost – quite literally. There are so many elements in a room that need to be considered to create a cohesive and functional space. I don’t suggest leaving out key pieces to make sure you don’t max out that budget, rather save where you can without skimping on the style. So, where do you splurge and where do you save?

Here are 3 ways you can save:

The accents – pieces like side tables and poufs don’t see as much wear and tear as a sofa or chair, so this is a great place to start with the savings.

The accessories – apart from that priceless piece of art of antique collections, the home decor can be an opportunity to add color, style and texture without going over the top. Decorative pillows, lamps or bowls and vases.

Rugs – ok, this is one that can both ways. If you have a young and busy family, you may want to choose something more durable. A natural fiber rug, like sisal or jute, is great for high traffic and budget-friendly too.

Let’s talk splurge!

Here are 3 ways you can splurge:

The sofa – you want something durable and beautiful, it will most likely be the largest piece in a living space, so make it count! High quality upholstery is a must.

A statement piece – Look for pieces that are unique and one of a kind.

Rugs – as I said, this one goes both ways. There is nothing like a one of a kind antique rug to make a room feel grounded.
